The Facilities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager in ensuring Carnegie Hall facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and secure at all times. This is a part-time position, normally about 20 hours a week. The majority of this work is performed in the evenings and/or on weekends. The Maintenance Assistant must be proactive in identifying needs associated with the duties below and must complete tasks and interact with patrons, visitors, and staff in a cordial and professional manner.
Assist with maintaining a clean facility, inside and outside
Assist with maintaining a safe environment following standards of safety
Serve as one of the Hall’s emergency contacts
Serve as the primary staff member who is on site for rentals and activities
Maintain positive working relationships
Frequent verbal and written communication with staff and other business associates by telephone, correspondence, or in person.
Frequent lifting 50+ lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights, if necessary
Frequent sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and standing.
Flexibility in scheduling; evening and weekend hours are required.
Wear designated company attire including hard-toes shoes.
Reliable transportation. Job may require occasional local driving using personal vehicle.
Education and Experience
High School diploma.
Experience with safety systems and cleaning products
Demonstrated excellence in customer service
Experience in facilities maintenance preferred
